Colmar is a city located in Alsace, eastern France, and is called the star of Alsace. It is also famous for being the background of Japanese animation <Howl's Moving Castle>. It is nicknamed Petit Venice because canals are connected everywhere, and it is close to Paris, making it a good city for a day trip. Then I'll introduce you to must-see attractions in Colmar.

More The Champ de Mars Park is a place where Colmariens and tourists like to sit on one of the many benches to enjoy the shade of the trees. By the mid-eighteenth century, part of this square located southwest of the city had been converted into a public walk. In 1793, the city transformed this space into a military drill ground and a place of celebration, renamed Champ de Mars. During the nineteenth century this park of approval takes its current form with its vast aisles whose design recalls the cross of the legion of honor. In 1856, Auguste Bartholdi installed a statue of General Rapp on the square in the North, henceforth called by the name of the Colombian hero. Then in 1864 he built Admiral Bruat's fountain in the center of the park. These two monuments installed in the alignment of the prefecture reinforce the attraction of the site. The jets of water of the Rapp place, the Carrousel 1900 and the numerous games for children (swings, slides or rockers), contribute to the animation of this place of life colmarien.

Strolling through the wide pedestrian street of the old Colmar, listed as a historical monument, you can marvel at a rich, well-preserved cultural, civil and religious heritage that dates from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. The picturesque Little Venice district attracts photographers from all over the world, and the Tanners' Quarter is recognizable by the large houses with their white facades.
Don't miss the magnificent Abbey Church of St. Martin, which will impress you with its numerous Gothic architectural details and its unusual colors.
Colmar is known for its traditional half-timbered houses, including many important town houses.
Magnificent examples are the Haus Adolf, the oldest in the city, or the Pfisterhaus (French: Maison Pfister) from the 16th century with a proud bay window, beautiful murals and a long wooden gallery.
