This is one of the most beautiful, splendid and magnificent mosque in Turkey built by the 14th Sultan Ahmet I.
After the peace of Zsitvatorok and the crushing loss of the 1603-1618 war with Persia,
Sultan Ahmet I decided to build a large mosque in Istanbul to re-empower the Ottoman Empire.
This is today's Blue Mosque.
Inside the mosque, blue porcelain tiles were attached, and so people began to call it blue mosque.
