The world is born in every kiss (El món neix en cada besada ) is a photomosaic located in the Plaza de Isidre Nonell, in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona . It was made by the photographer Joan Fontcuberta and the ceramist Antoni Cumella in 2014.
The origin of this photocomposition is found in the tricentenary of the Catalan defeat in the War of the Spanish Succession (September 11, 1714), which gave rise to the celebration of Catalonia Day . The initiative came from the photographer Joan Fontcuberta in collaboration with El Periódico de Catalunya , and consisted of the creation of a mural made up of photographs sent by El Periódico readers, which together would form an image. The required theme for the photographs was “living free.” With them, 4,000 ceramic tiles were formed , distributed in 50 rows of eighty tiles each, which together form the image of kissing lips. It was installed on a wall near the private garden of a house in Plaza de Isidre Nonell and, although in principle it was supposed to be an ephemeral installation, Barcelona City Council decided to leave it permanently.
