Orchard Road started simple in the early 1830s. At that time, Orchard Road was just an unnamed road with orchards and pepper farms. In 1958, local merchant Tang opened its first department store TANGS on Orchard Road.
It was known as House of Tangs at that time and became the most beloved shopping street in Singapore.
