Yeongdodaegyo Bridge, connecting Jung-gu and Yeongdo-gu, was built during the Japanese colonial period. The Japanese built a bridge to connect Busanhang Port, the base for exploiting supplies, with Yeongdo Island right next to it. In 1934, on the day the first suspension bridge and bascule bridge in Busan was opened to the public, Yeongdodaegyo Bridge was packed with people from all over the country to take a look at the bridge. Yeongdodaegyo Bridge, which could be raised on one end of the upper deck, is called Yeongdo Bridge and soon became a landmark that has turned into a household name.
Yeongdodaegyo Bridge is a place where refugees in Busan congregated to in the midst of the Korean War to find some hope. Yeongdo Bridge, the landmark of Busan and the only place that refugees knew, became a union spot for people who were separated. People’s desperate wish to find separated families was engraved on faded paper and torn cloth to fill up the handrails of Yeongdo Bridge.
In 1966, when the wounds of the war began to heal, Yeongdodaegyo Bridge stopped lifting up the deck. The old bridge could no longer endure the increasing traffic, and the opening of the Busandaegyo Bridge right next to the bridge made the future of the bridge uncertain. However, the bridge was restored in 47 years, and its lifting resumed through the peoples’ efforts to remember and share the history of the Yeongdo Bridge.
This place, where refugees used to visit to find their separated families, is now a popular tourist attraction. At around 2:00 p.m., the signal is made, and the blocking curtain goes down. All the passing vehicles stop, and the Yeongdo Bridge goes up slowly.

This place allows you to walk along the green forest path and view the blue ocean simultaneously. The multicolored rocky coast boasts its beauty formed by years of crashing waves. We’re talking about Taejongdae Park at the southern end of Yeongdo, Busan. Taejongdae was named after King Taejong Muyeol of Silla, who used to stop by the region and practice archery as he was mesmerized by the beauty of the landscape. Taejongdae Park, where unique rocks are formed and visitors are greeted by the dense forest surrounded by the deep blue ocean, is a leading travel destination in Korea.
Most visitors use the Danubi Train, adorned with a cute exterior, circulating the Taejongdae Recreation Area Road. Walk 5 min from the main gate tourist information center to see the Danubi Train Ticket Booth and platform, and make sure to check the discount benefits. After departing, you can conveniently get off at the numerous stops along the beltway.

The steep wall of the Jeoryeong Coastal Trail is a unique view of the village, where you can see small houses clustered along the narrow alley formed by the coast at the end of the cliff. This is where the sorrowful lives of refugees began and where the current cultural village community of Huinnyeoul Culture Village has been established.
Huinnyeoul-gil, the representative original downtown center of Busan, was named after the current of water at the foot of the Bongnaesan Mountain that resembles the white falling snow. In December 2011, the old house was remodeled and renovated into a unique Culture and Art Village that reflects the life in Yeongdo.
Huinnyeoul-gil consists of 14 alleys as well as cozy cafés, workshops, and independent bookstores. The ocean breeze enters the slow-paced alleys, and the greenery between rocks add relaxation to daily life. One of the must-visit places on Huinnyeoul-gil is the Huinnyeol Jeomppang, where you can enjoy the best ramen noodles while gazing at the vast ocean. A moment of peace enters the mind as you enjoy your meal after a long day of walking. The end of the road connects to the Jeoryeong Coastal Trail once again and reunites with travelers who walked between the cliffs and the lands below.

Gemstone is an unique cafe in Busan Nampodong that is located inside a swimming pool!
Gemstone became a HOT cafe between Busan locals because you can eat coffee and desserts in the middle of the pool.
Cafe Gemstone was made after remodeling old swimming pools in Yeongdo. The floor tiles and rail lines of the pool were kept as it originally was, so viewing the unique interior was also very fun. Gemstone is the only cafe that is located inside a swimming pool.
Gemstone is famous as a delicious bakery in Busan. It is made by a baker who has 20 years experience, and all of the bread are produced the day that it is sold. You can choose which bread to buy according to your preference.
