Osteria al Duca is located in the heart of Verona, a stone's throw from the Scaliger Arches.
It occupies the first and second floors of a 13th century crenellated house that belonged to the Montecchi family and in which Romeo was born and lived, who together with Juliet was the protagonist of the most famous love story in the world.
Rooms which, initially used as a stable for horses, were centuries ago transformed into an inn and a place of rest for travellers, where they could taste tasty dishes of tripe or pastissada, accompanied by polenta and local wines.
A tradition continued over the years, which makes it the oldest tavern in the city.
A warm and welcoming place, furnished in a rustic style with exposed beams, which combines the happy location with good quality cuisine and a cellar that offers the best of Veronese wine production, at extremely reasonable prices.
A true family-run tavern, of which there are still few left in Verona, where you can eat dishes from the Venetian and particularly Veronese cuisine: bigoli al torchio with donkey ragù, pappardelle with duck sauce, pasta and fasoi, various horse meat, polenta with mushrooms and soppressa, sautéed snails, pastissada de caval, local cheeses, chocolate salami, tiramisu,Juliet's semifreddo.
