Osteria al Duca is located in the heart of Verona, a stone's throw from the Scaliger Arches.
It occupies the first and second floors of a 13th century crenellated house that belonged to the Montecchi family and in which Romeo was born and lived, who together with Juliet was the protagonist of the most famous love story in the world.
Rooms which, initially used as a stable for horses, were centuries ago transformed into an inn and a place of rest for travellers, where they could taste tasty dishes of tripe or pastissada, accompanied by polenta and local wines.
A tradition continued over the years, which makes it the oldest tavern in the city.
A warm and welcoming place, furnished in a rustic style with exposed beams, which combines the happy location with good quality cuisine and a cellar that offers the best of Veronese wine production, at extremely reasonable prices.
A true family-run tavern, of which there are still few left in Verona, where you can eat dishes from the Venetian and particularly Veronese cuisine: bigoli al torchio with donkey ragù, pappardelle with duck sauce, pasta and fasoi, various horse meat, polenta with mushrooms and soppressa, sautéed snails, pastissada de caval, local cheeses, chocolate salami, tiramisu,Juliet's semifreddo.

It preserves the name of a pre-existing church of the Lombard period, dedicated to the virgin Anastasia, martyr of the fourth century. The building was located at the end of the decumanus maximus: the main Roman road of Verona that connected Porta Borsàri to the disappeared Ponte Postumio. Around 1290 the Dominican order settled here, which began the construction of the Gothic Basilica, dedicated to St. Peter martyr, Dominican native of Verona and patron, with St. Zeno, of the city. The work was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Della Scala family, who ruled Verona from the end of the 13th to the end of the 14th century. Sant'Anastasia is the largest church in Verona.

Founded in 1939 by spouses Vittorio Bonvicini and Luigia Savoia, since the beginning it has created ice creams which, due to their characteristics and shapes, are uniquely typical. The Semifreddo, a perfect combination of HIGH QUALITY CREAM WITH AMARETTI AND ALMONDS FROM LIGURIA. La Mattonella, a three-tier ice cream (cream, amaretto semifreddo and chocolate) which takes its shape and colors from the pack of Regie Turche cigarettes which were very common at the time. Ennio Savoia, the nephew, personally managed the production for over fifty years, giving impulses to innovation and winning three Ice Cream Oscars at the Longarone fair. In 1985, Ennio's son Marco joined his father who passed on the secret and passion to him and together they created various ice creams which later achieved enormous success: the Stecco allo Yogurt, the Lingotto, the Bombardino and the Gianduiotto (the cup for takeaway with Piedmont gianduja ice cream, whipped cream, chopped hazelnuts and a cascade of dark chocolate).

Porta Borsari is an ancient Roman gate in Verona, northern Italy.
It dates to the 1st century AD, though it was most likely built over a pre-existing gate from the 1st century BC. An inscription dating from emperor Gallienus' reign reports another reconstruction in 265 AD. The Via Postumia (which here became the decumanus maximus) passed through the gate, which was the city's main entrance and was therefore richly decorated. It also originally had an inner court, now disappeared.
The gate's Roman name was Porta Iovia, as it was located near a small temple dedicated to Jupiter lustralis. In the Middle Ages it was called Porta di San Zeno, while the current name derives from the guard soldiers which were paid the dazio.
The façade, in local white limestone, has two arches flanked by semi-columns with Corinthian capitals which supports entablature and pediment. In the upper part is a two-floor wall with twelve arched windows, some of which are included in small niches with triangular pediment.
