Gucci is a luxury brand founded by Guccio Gucci in Firenze. Guccio Gucci opened a leather specialty store in Firenze in 1921, named Gucci after his surname, and expanded its stores with his three sons to Rome & Milano in 1940 and to London, Paris, and New York in 1950.
In 1947 after the war, when it was not easy to find traditional materials, Guccio Gucci and the Florentine artisans of the Maison decided to use bamboo, light and resistant, for the handle of a new bag, giving life to a real emblem.
