The Bunkyodo Sohonten was opened in 1900 (Meiji 33) by "Yasugoro Nakagawa" in Maruyama-cho, Nagasaki City as "Bunkyodo".
For about 120 years since then, they have been making efforts to improve the quality of castella with the aim of "making sweets that please everyone" while paying particular attention to the quality of castella.
They believe that providing even more delicious, safe, and best service to sweets loved by customers is the goal of all employees of the Bunkyodo Head Office.
Inheriting the founder's will from generation to generation, the Bunkyodo Sohonten will draw dreams again and make them come true.

Get a fee or old-school Tokyo at one of Japan's oldest shopping streeets, Nakamise-dori, which dates back to the 17th century. Most shops in this arcade have been run by the same famillies for several generations, serving souvenirs, top-class street food and irresistibel snacks.
Don't miss the chance to try some of the city's best street food all in one place. Ningyoyaki-little sponge cakes filled with red bean paste and shaped like famous Asaskusa landmarks-and freshly toasted sembei crackers are two lacal favorites. Follow your nose to find juicy fried meat croquettes, sweet melon pan bread or cooling matcha ice cream among the stalls.
